Am I Suitable for Chiropractic Treatment?

Our Chatswood chiropractic clinic is open to all. Spinal and back issues are experienced by over 16% of Australians (that's 4 million of us with back or spinal pain) and can be caused by work, sport, injury, and disease.

Office workers: Extended periods of sitting and poor desk posture can cause spinal problems and symptoms like lower back and neck pain. Chiropractic care will involve pain relief and promoting proper posture.

Athletes: Chiropractic services tailored for athletes and individuals with active lifestyles. By ensuring the proper alignment of your spine, good range of motion, and minimised tension, we can prevent the risk of injury and increase physical performance.

Pregnancy: Providing effective relief for sore back, neck pain, shoulder strains, and pain around the pelvis. We understand the pressure and strain that pregnancy can have on your body and can make sure you're as comfortable as possible.

Trade or Manual Workers: Manual work involving heavy or repeated lifting can seriously impact the back and spine. We treat a lot of workplace injuries. We deliver chiropractic treatment to address aches, stiffness, and mobility issues, as well as provide strategies for improving your mobility at work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many appointments will I need?

Some injuries will only require a couple of visits, while others may require you to come in on a weekly or fortnightly basis until it can be safely managed without coming into the clinic so frequently.

The goal is to get your pain-free and moving freely as soon as possible. Your first appointment will include treatment, and based on your injury, we'll provide an overview of how many appointments you need. For simple adjustments - we don't need you to come back every other day; we want to make sure you leave feeling better, and that we see less of you over time (don't take it personally!).

How long are chiropractic appointments?

  1. New Patient Exclusive | Initial Consultation, Examination & Diagnosis | $55

  2. Follow up | Adjustments only | 15 minutes

  3. Follow up | Massage & Adjustments | 30 minutes

  4. Follow up | Massage & Adjustments | 45 minutes – Extended session for multiple injuries or complex conditions.

Are chiropractic adjustments painful?

No, chiropractic adjustments generally do not cause any pain. During adjustments, chiros apply gentle pressure and specific motions to correct the spine’s alignment. You may feel a mild discomfort or popping sensation, but nothing should be outwardly painful!

Can I continue with my regular exercise routine while undergoing chiropractic treatment?

Your chiropractor will generally advise against any strenuous exercise to avoid further injury to your spine. Depending on your injury, you may be able to perform light exercises, as well as walking or stretching. Your treatment may also prescribe specific strengthening exercises that should be carried out at home.

Do you accept workers' compensation claims?

Yes, our chiropractic services in Chatswood can be claimed under the NSW workers compensation scheme. If you have sustained a physical injury in the line of work or due to a workplace accident, it will usually be covered under WorkCover.

How many sessions will I need with a Chiropractor?

Most spinal pain and injuries will take up to 4 weeks to recover completely, but more severe conditions may require ongoing treatment. After a physical assessment, your chiropractor will provide a rough timeline for how many sessions are required. Your progress will be monitored throughout the treatment plan to ensure a swift recovery.

Do I need a referral to see a Chiropractor in Chatswood?

No - you do not need a referral to get an appointment with a chiropractor in Chatswood, because they are Primary Health Practitioners (just like a GP or physiotherapist). So, if you are struggling with pain or injury, there’s no need to waste any time - simply get in touch with our chiropractic care team, and we can get straight to it.

However, if you have already been to see a GP, physio, or any other health professional related to your injury – we encourage you to bring along any information (such as X-rays) that will be relevant to your chiropractor.

Do I need to bring anything with me to the chiropractic appointment?

If you have had a previous appointment with your GP or specialist - please remember to bring any relevant notes or X-rays. For private health fund members, you will also need to bring your card so that you can make a claim.

We suggest wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing so that our chiropractors can properly assess your injury, evaluate possible problem areas, provide manual therapy, or get you stretching and moving. If you are a runner, walker, or you play sports, wear the footwear that you typically wear when exercising.

Is chiropractic care covered by Medicare?

Chiropractic treatment is not typically covered under Medicare. However, individuals with chronic medical conditions such as osteoarthritis or recurring back pain can apply for a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan under Medicare, which covers up to 5 allied health sessions each year.
