1. Reporting the injury to your employer
Employers in NSW are legally obligated to report any workplace injuries in an accident register, so it’s important that you notify them of the injuries you have sustained as soon as possible.
2. Visiting a doctor
Seek a medical diagnosis from your doctor for the workplace injury. Once a proper diagnosis has been obtained, your doctor will provide you with a NSW WorkCover Certificate of Capacity, that outlines the nature of your injury and your need for physio treatment.
3. Claiming for physio services
Request for a workers compensation claim form from your employer or doctor, and fill it out with the relevant details of your injury and claim amount for physio services. This form and the Certificate of Capacity can then be submitted to your employer for processing.
How often should I see a physio?
It depends on how much treatment and time your injury will require to fully recover and heal. More severe conditions such as late stage tendinitis, can require up to a few months for healing even with targeted treatment, while minor pain or strains can usually be resolved within a week or two.
